Lure Coursing Instruction

Experience this fast-paced and exciting sport with your dog!

Description

Dogs will learn to chase a plastic lure around a course set in the fully fenced, off leash dog park at the back of The Dog Alliance property. If your dog has never done this activity before, you need to bring a helper/friend/family member to their first class.

Each dog will get 2-3 runs in an hour depending on their familiarity with the sport. Dogs love this sport, but they can become quite aroused and excited, so, when they are not running, dogs will need to be secured in a crate in your car or tethered to the fence next to you apart from other dogs.

Dogs will run with a flat-buckle collar only, no martingales, no harnesses, and nothing attached to their collars or bodies. Owners are encouraged to bring 2 leashes. Slip leads are highly encouraged. Bring water for your dogs after they run.

If you would like to bring more than 1 dog, please note that you can only handle 1 dog at a time. Additional dogs must be secured in a crate in your vehicle.

Prerequisites

Dogs should be healthy and in fit condition.

Dogs under 12 months of age will be restricted to long straights or single turns. At the instructor’s discretion, a dog nearing the age of 12 months may be able to turn more than once, but only after an assessment of their age and physical conditioning.

Dogs over 12 months old can run the designated course. A recall is highly recommended.
